A delightful little garter stitch jacket for a newborn. Knitted in one piece from the top down. Pattern can be found on Crochet For Baby You Tube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FvDl24ZdUg
A corner to corner crochet project for this beautiful baby shawl. The stitch is called crystal wave and can be found on You Tube. It was a great choice to get me back to doing some crochet. I am not as proficient with crochet as with knitting so this got me into the swing of it once again.
I used Bendigo Woollen Mills 4ply pure wool yarn with a 3.5m hook. Little Anna will be snug with this one. I had some balls of a chunky 12ply yarn in the stash which was just enough to knit a jumper for this grandson. the contrasting lighter colour gave it a Nordic look. All set for winter. Pattern was an old one from a Patons Craftsy or Husky knitting book 484. Tension 15 st over 10 cm on No. 4 needles for the body.
This classic lace cardigan has been knitted several times over the years. Patons Book 392 was originally designed for Patons Feathersoft 3ply nylon yarn. It finishes beautifully using BWM 4 ply pure wool.
This is a 1940's pattern. The original pattern uses a 3 ply yarn but in this one I chose a lovely 8 ply pure wool. It did require a careful check of tension in order to get the correct size. The pattern on the body of the vest does skew the work on the bias. This is not a problem once sewn up and blocked sufficiently but when using this beautiful stitch this has to be taken into account. The link to the pattern can be found here:
https://vintageknittingpatternarchive.com/2019/10/17/1940s-tailored-pullover-bestway-858-free-vintage-knitting-pattern/ I knitted this raglan cardigan using Spotlight 4 Seasons pure wool yarn in a navy blue. The design is a classic one with a simple cable centre front on each side of the cardigan. It was a quick knit and much appreciated by my grandson Tristan.
The cable is worked by slipping 3 stitches on to a cable needle and holding at the back of the work. Knit the next 3 stitches and then knit the 3 stitches from the cable needle. This gives a right leaning cable. A beautiful vest for a young lady. A 1940's pattern, fashionable now once again. I used an 8 ply yarn although the original called for something more like a 4 ply. This knitted up quickly and the tuck cables were easy. Bendigo Woollen Mills yarn.
I knitted this one for our 8th grandchild, Madeleine. It uses Bendigo Woollen Mills 4 ply yarn in white. The pattern is from Barbara Walker's Treasury of Knitting Patterns. This design is a Gothic leaf pattern which is worked over 20 rows with a 16 + 1 stitch repeat. The border is a simple all around garter stitch edging.
